Jacob was actually in the process of turning into a Super Lycan like his son, he wasn't a hybrid like Michael, Marcus or Eve. He was just beginning to become a very powerful hybrid, and besides that he had fur on his body, the other Hybrids don't really. Their skin just turns the blackish/purple-ish, he was growing fur and his skin was more brown like Lycan fur. He even says he started to take the needles that made his son into a Super Lycan.
